BabyFab-Sick & Shut In!

While I maintain my views on smiling, being positive always and keeping it cute even in the face of danger, the truth is I am coming off one of the worst weeks I've had probably ever! It was a week that reminded me all too well about the Joys and Pains of Motherhood. A week I don't think any of us will soon forget!

Last Sunday evening I noticed BabyFab was doing something a little weird with his throat. He kept clearing his throat and making noises like perhaps something wasn't quite right with it. Being the mom that I am I immediately flashed back to the time when FabJr, swallowed a penny and nearly sent myself into full blown Freak the Hell out mode but there was something about it that told me it was just perhaps the forming or beginning of a sore throat!

By the time Monday rolled around BabyFab woke up to a fever of 103. I immediately felt helpless and wanted nothing more than to take his pain away. I gave him Tylenol, called into work, put on his favorite Lion Guard Episode and held him while he fell in and out of sleep. My baby was being anything but himself and it was eating me up inside, but because I had a praying Grandmother I knew this too would pass.

I
I took him to the emergency room to find out he had a virus and the only thing I could do was to allow it to clear his system. Unfortunately I had no idea how hard it would be to wait it out. He continued to sit still, hardly eat and barely interacted with anyone for nearly 3 days.Just as I was convinced I'd  have to return to the emergency room with him things changed and started to look up.

Slowly but surely BabyFab began to return to his old self and once again I was bragging on the joys of motherhood! It's absolutely unbelievable the highs and lows that motherhood can take you through. I went from counting down the hours to bedtime to praying for the day my baby would return to his slightly mischievous ways and in a blink of an eye it was all over!

Do you recall a time when you've had to be really strong when dealing with a sick kid?  If so share it in the comment section and I can't wait to read all about it!
