Friday evening I had the opportunity to be on hand for the opening of the 34th Annual Miami International Film Festival and let me just say, Oh what an experience it was! Follow along as I share with you my views on the opening night movie (Norman), what it was like to be up close with one of my favorite actors (Richard Gere), and the fabness of the opening night party!
The Miami Film Festival is a 10 day festival where over 10vesrs such as myself.0 films from over 40 different countries will screen for the first time in Miami, Florida. This incudes some of best cinema has to offer making it an world class event for movie lovers such as myself!
The opening night feature film was Norman, The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer Directed by Joseph Cedar and starring Richard Gere as the fixer who lives to connect people and always claims to "know a guy". I really didn't know what to expect from Norman but as always Richard Gere found a way to lure me in and brilliantly capture my attention. After about30 minutes in I found myself totally captivated with Norman and found I could definitely relate to him wanting to fix things all the time and even his method of getting it done.
After the completion of Norman guests headed across the street for Bottles of Bubbly, Culinary Delights, and a Night to Remember at the Champaign & Stars Opening Night Party presented by Korbel!
I'm not sure what you herd but let me be the first to set the record clear. The Miami International opening Night Party is by far one of the most organized, well put together, creative, energetic, and delightful parties offer in the State of Florida! Yep folks it really is just that amazing. How do I even begin to put into words being in a beautiful and historic building surrounded by movie lovers, amazing foods, unlimited drinks, picture booths, dance floor, a live band, DJ, and so much more. Next to Disney land I swear it's one of the happiest places on earth! I think my picture above sorta sums this all up! LOL!
Along with multiple other sponsors such as Miami DDA, Finlandia, Stella Artois, Barton & Guestier, Jack Daniels definitely knew how to keep the crowd smiling and on the dance floor. One of my favorite drinks of the night was the Jack Daniels Strawberry Margarita! You haven't lived until you've tried it!
Another of the biggest draws of the opening night party is being able to connect with like minded individuals who are also passionate about and share your love for film. This is the type of party where you can come knowing no one and leave with hundreds of new friends.
Don't worry about having the drinks on an empty stomach because there's more food than you could even imagine at the opening night party. Some of my favorites of the night were the empanadas, tuna tartare, fish tacos, meatballs, sandwiches, shrimp, and of course the multiple selection of desserts. Whatever your taste buds desired was basically covered and in the finest of fashion.
The Miami Film Festival lasts through December 12th and some of the movies and events you definitely don't want to miss are Hulk Hogan, Gawker and Trials of a Free Press, Lipstick Under My Burkha, Woodpeckers, and more! There are also tons of great featured events such as the Awards Night party, Google Talks Sessions, Big Easy Brunch at River Yacht Club and more. All in all the Miami Film Festival is a series of FABNESS you don't want to miss out on!
