Port Charlotte Florida in the Mazda CX9-Memorial Day and We Travel!

FABulites, I had the most amazing Memorial Day Weekend and I really hope you did as well! It was a weekend of family, fun, basketball, swimming, team work, great cars, and simply learning to appreciate some of life's most simple pleasures. What happens when you get a Mazda CX-9 to drive for the week and your son's Basketball Tournament gets switched from the wildly popular Florida city of Orlando to the not so popular Port Charlotte Florida, Guess you'll have to just keep reading to find out!

My weekend was Lit! For those who do not know what the term Lit is, it means Great and Exciting and I'm pretty sure neither your kids nor mine will approve of us using it! In the beginning I was a slight bit disappointed that instead of heading to Orlando for my son's Memorial Day Weekend Basketball Tournament that we'd be heading to Port Charlotte Florida instead. I mean I knew how much fun there was to be had in Orlando but to be honest with you I'd never even heard of Port Charlotte Florida but that was all about to change.

Friday evening we loaded up the family and the Mazda CX-9 and headed towards Florida Gulf Coast. I had no idea what to expect but I knew that if my ride was any indication of how my weekend was going to flow that it would be pretty darn amazing! Fabulites I tell you no lie, the Mazda CX9 is by far the most amazing car I've ever had the pleasure of road tripping in. It was comfortable, spacious, good on gas, had tons of features to keep both the kids and the adults entertained on the ride and just felt right!

While the actual Basketball Tournament was being held in Port Charlotte Florida we decided to first take a stroll through Lehigh Acres just to take a look around and it was amazing. Lehigh Acres is located exactly 2 hours and 3 minutes away from South Florida. The houses were huge, you could just see that it was very family orientated and the people that we met were beyond friendly and welcoming. Take a look at this beautiful home we came across.

We also came across this really great park with a seemingly innocent walking trail yet as we got closer and took a look at the sign we felt much more comfortable heading back to the Mazda, kinda immediately! Standing next to this sign was probably  the most adventurous thing I did all weekend and even while standing there my knees were shaking  from picturing the possibilities!

Saturday morning we headed to Port Charlotte High School for game one of my son's 8th Grade Basketball Tournament. It was a great game played by both teams and I'm pleased to advise my son's Below the Rim team came out on top. Unfortunately although they fought a good fight they were defeated the second match of the day. They were still in the championship running and would just have to return and give it their all Sunday morning.

At the conclusion of Saturday's game we did what a majority of the locals in Port Charlotte did and headed to the nearest, (only) Cracker Barrel for a bite to eat. It was my very first time eating at Cracker Barrel and can I just say how downright impressive the Chicken and Dumplings were. Delicious!!!

Day 2 of my son's Basketball Tournament was equally as exciting. his team needed to beat the opposing tem by at least 10 points or more to make it to the Sunday evening championship game for their age group. The below the Rim kids lost but not without putting up a good fight. Fab Jr. even managed to snap the All Tournament Player trophy for his group. good time indeed in Port Charlotte Florida.

Port Charlotte we came, toured your city, played in your gym, broke bread with you and soaked in the beauty of your are but now it was time to head back home to Sunny South Florida and that is exactly what we did. Once again we loaded up the Mazda CX-9 and headed in the direction of home. all was well until things got a little scary when we ran into a fire on Alligator Alley. Although the fire didn't pose a danger to us exactly I must admit it was a little intense driving through. Didn't I tell you it was a weekend full of adventure.

Thanks for allowing me to share with you my Memorial Day Weekend  Port Charlotte Florida road trip and a special Thanks to my friends at Mazda for making sure my trip was made in the utmost style in the Mazda CX9. This  weekend was definitely a learning experience where I learned you don't have to always be a part of the hustle and bustle busy life to have a good time. get out and be willing to explore your state a little more and chances are you'll find beauty and amazement all around you.

Have you ever visited Port Charlotte Florida or had the opportunity to test drive the all new
Mazda CX-9? Take it from me you definitely want to add both of these to your Must try and Must visit list today! How did you spend your Memorial Day Weekend?
