When I got the Media Notification stating I had full approval to cover the 3rd Annual Zo's Winter Groove I was overjoyed. What would I wear, Who would I see, How would I bring this day of events to life were some of my immediate questions. I quickly learned that this weekend was about so much more than what everyone was wearing, so much more than the celebrities in attendance, and after all was said and done the events that took place during Zo's Winter Groove Weekend changed my life for good and taught me about the power of giving back!
Tracy and Alonzo Mourning
The Mourning Family Foundation (MFF), founded by NBA Hall of Famer, Alonzo Mourning and his wife Tracy Mourning kicked off on Friday with Zo's Youth Summit Groove. The event was hosted by Florida Memorial University and allowed students from select High Schools in Miami Dade County to engage with a panel of experts and celebrities discussing issue that are affecting our youth today. The topics ranged from social media etiquette, bullying, educational opportunities and more. It was very evident that both Alonzo and Tracy are committed to improving the lives of youths and their families and I was pleased to see this dialogue in progress. If you watch the news you'd think a majority of our youth were lost and caught up in a world of violence. Zo's Youth Summit showed me different. The kids were bright, involved, and determined to have the future of their dreams and not allow anyone to get in the way of that. It was a beautiful thing to see out youth uplift and motivate one another.

Day 2 was all about Z's Health and Wellness Family Funday Groove. The event was held on the campus of Alonzo and Tracy Mourning High School and kicked off with a 5K Walk/Run. The community was then treated to an afternoon of food truck, face painting, bounce houses, health screenings, crossfit sessions and more and best of all it was Free! I love the commitment to health and fitness! Check out this video!
Sunday was all about Zo's Winter Comedy Groove with Alonzo and his Hall of Fame Friends. The event was held t the J.W. Marquis in Downtown Miami and the laughs kept coming. The comedy show was the perfect opportunity for the community to enjoy an evening of laughter and entertainment for a great cause and there was no denying the magic that filled the room.

The final day of Zo's Winter Groove was all about the Hall of Fame Golf Classic. It was a fun day of golf and sportsmanship as NBA, NFL, MLB, and entertainers took to the golf course. Proceeds from both Zo's Comedy Groove and Hall of Fame Sports Classic benefit the Mourning Family Foundation's program partners the Overtown Youth Center and Honey Shine, Inc.
While we celebrated the 3rd year of Zoe's Winter Groove if we include Zo's Summer Grove that means there's been over 19 years of the Groove all together with over $25 Million raised for their charity initiatives. Is this not amazing or what? Thank you Alonzo and Tracy for showing me the greatness of giving back and playing a vital role in my community and I can't wait to see what Winter Groove 2018 has in store!
