Macy's Soul Era Black History Month Recap!

Hello my fellow Fashion Luva's! As many of you already know, Saturday afternoon I had the pleasure of attending Macy's Black History Month  "Soul Era"  Event with Fashion Icons June Ambrose, Johnetta Boone and the CEO of Ankara Fashions Evelyn Onyejuruwa.  I was so in my element being in the vicinity of these women, and listening to them gave me even more of a reason to be completely head over heels in love with the fashions of the 60's and 70's!

The event was hosted my Celebrity Personality and Reporter Neki Mohan and kicked off with June, Junetta and Evelyn discussing the style of the 60's and 70's and exactly what fashion was all about during those time. Believe it or not I gained a whole new appreciation for the style of the Soul Era because it was a time when women showed great appreciation for their bodies  without being downright naked and the men took pleasure in dressing up and taking the time to make sure their looks were flawless and celebrated.

At the completion of the most awesome panel discussion ever guest were allowed to ask the Celebrity Fashion Icons questions which were followed up with both a Macy's fashion show as well as a Ankara Fashion show (pictured above) that made my heart go pitter patter.  For me one of the most enjoyable moment of the discussion was when June Ambrose took the time out to tell us why it's important to bond with each other as a fashion community and why working together to make our fashion dreams reality would change things withing the African American Community. I also greatly enjoyed hearing the guest talk about what a major fashion influence Soul Train was during he Soul Era. This was my very first panel discussion but thanks to Macy's and this informative and energetic discussion it most certainly won't be my last.  Special Thanks to everyone that came out to join me at this event and for allowing me to share with you my Soul Era Recap.
